Orange and int@j launch “Hello Women” to increase female ICT participation

Orange Jordan, represented by its CEO, Thierry Marigny, and The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j), represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eid Amjad Sweis, signed an agreement to launch the “Hello Women” program initiated by the global Orange group to enhance women’s participation in ICT across the group’s subsidiaries in collaboration with int@j’s SHETECHS. The new program seeks to encourage women across the kingdom to work in the sector, facilitate recruitment and supply of graduates, and raise awareness of the contributions of the sector’s distinguished women. CEO of Orange Jordan, Thierry Marigny, affirmed the importance of “Hello Women” in enhancing career opportunities for women in ICT, noting that women’s role in the technical and digital capacities is essential considering their amazing contribution. Marigny said that Orange Jordan and ICT are joining forces to increase women participation in ICT through the new 2-year initiative, adding that this is a key step in the company’s efforts to ensure gender equality and increase women representation across all roles, especially those technical, digital, and related to innovation. Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eid Amjad Sweis, stressed the vital role Orange Jordan is playing in empowering women in the sector, pointing out to the two parties partnership to support women ICT and develop the sector. Sweiss said that Orange succeeded especially in providing opportunities, supporting entrepreneurs, and discovering talents, adding that int@j also supports women in ICT through a series of initiatives. int@j Board Member, Ruba Darwish, said that women's presence in any institution is a great added value, calling for women's empowerment in all sectors and considering remote work in governorates to enable female participation. Orange Jordan's Chief Legal, Regulatory, Sourcing, Supply Chain & Human Resources Officer, Dr. Ibrahim Harb, affirmed that “Hello Women” is an extension of the company’s efforts to empower women and ensure diversity, noting that Orange Jordan received the Gender Equality European & International Standard (GEEIS), from Bureau Veritas, for two consecutive years.
